Countertop Blenders

The Braun Powermax is the fourth blender that I am using in less than 6 years and this has been serving me for the last 8 months day in and out. The main reason why I went for a blender in spite of having superior food processor is the amount of time wasted in assembling and cleaning the unit. Moreover there is no point in using an advanced food processor for making one or two glasses of smoothies. The Cuisinart blender with its deceptive sturdy look and the Black & Decker equipped with a sluggish motor was replaced by the Vitamix.

The Vitamix Blender is simply amazing and as far as I am concerned it is the perfect “no problem” mixer that makes smooth drinks like breeze. I had no idea of throwing out this brilliant mixer until I read disgusting news about its plastic mixing bowl. Though I am usually against using plastic items, the superior inimitable performance of this blender forced me to go with it. It seems the plastic material of the Vitamix jug for some reason started leaching harmful chemicals and after reading this no sensible guy would want to continue with the blender irrespective of its quality. Because of this, I moved on to the Braun MX2050 and expected a lot from this reputed brand.

This Powermax comes with a 58 ounce glass jug and the issue of plastic pitcher is totally put to rest. Another good thing about the glass jar is that the blending process can be viewed through the see through glass and can be stopped not relying on intuition. Besides that, cleaning is also easy. This is powered by a powerful 525 watt motor that blends efficiently all the ingredients in a jiffy to make smoothies, shakes and frozen drinks with uniform consistency.

I use this every day to make yummy protein shakes and by far it comes out without any lumps of unmixed powder or sediments at the bottom of the jar. I was really amazed by its potential to crush ice and blend frozen fruits effortlessly. However this is not suitable for mixing cookie and cake dough. This blender with its 5 speed operation is far better than the Osterizer -12 speed control. There is no doubt that the Braun Powermax at $44 is efficient than most of the expensive blenders that come at twice this cost. In spite of its premier performance, I feel that it is one step below the Vitamix.

The idea of hole on the top of the jar is definitely a good idea for introducing ice or other ingredients in the middle of the process. When the blender is run in pulse speed it leaks via this small hole. I did not expect this from Braun and to avoid any seeping of liquid, it is advisable to cover that area with a thick towel.
